SPOTTED OWL UPDATE
This is a terrible picture, taken in the evening with my cell phone. A spotted owl sitting in a bay tree.

It is spotted owl mating season and we have seen and hear both males and females in the area. This is one of the reasons why people with dogs should really keep them under control. The owls are fairly picky about their habitat and having dogs barking, according to some experts, interferes with their own communication, which incidentally sounds sort of doggish, without the sharp sounds.

There are also a number of barred owls in the area now. They compete with the less robust spotted owls and are causing a decline in the spotted owl population.
WATER UPDATE

I met a nice couple the other day who were very interested in the property. They told me that their agent told them that the property gets its water from across the valley on El Mirador. This is simply not possible. On further checking, the agent told them that she actually didn't know what the water situation was.

The couple did not believe that they could get bank financing for the property due to the water situation. This is an unfortunate situation.
